RE: vBulletin overrated?
Personally I dont care about the look of a forum. I mean it can all be changed by editing the CSS and Templates and Images in the FTP. Its more the features and functions that I look at. Also I look at the user dynamics. Is it easy for a user to make posts, threads, edit their profiles? and for vB its a yes.

Yeah, vB have a LOT of really community options that MyBB dont have.

By example the User Gallery picture, the Friendship, the Profile personalization, etc.

The thing is vB is more like a Social Networking not only a Forum System.

RE: vBulletin overrated?
I personally think VB is overrated. Look at all the forums that use VB. Sure, it might have that or this but really it seems like in order to run a successful forum you need VB witch isn't true.

If I had a chance at a free lifetime VB license, I would pass up on it. Ive tried the demo, didn't like half of it but some features I do like. Plus, just like almost everyone says, it's bloated to death and it's more of a social-networking type of software..

RE: vBulletin overrated?
In my opinion, I think vBulletin is overrated. Right now it is like a social network thing than a forum. The way how they sell vBulletin is dumb. $180 for a 1 year license and then $60 to be subscribed. This is similar to a Antivirus Subscription. There are many things about vBulletin that I do not like.

RE: vBulletin overrated?
I love how vBulletin is customized persay and I like the myBB themes, but vBulletin's themes are a larger database and how they coded vBulletin looks very professional. I would say vBulletin is a 'tad pricey for medium - budget people but you get what you pay for and it's pretty straight forwarded. I've used vBulletin and I've loved it and I love using myBB also.

Security - There is very few vBulletin forums getting hacked and that is very important.
If there is any flaws then they get updated right away. There is like an update every week.

Modifications - vBulletin.org has a huge ample amount of mods getting ready to use at your fingertips, which myBB should do something like that. There is a lot of choices of mods, such as a simple chatbox - to a latest x threads and much much more.

SEO features - VB has excellent SEO features built in and they continue to make their boards SEO friendly.
MyBB should be updated with these SEO Features to make it more of a competitor in this big league.

vBulletin is not overrated in my opinion, but MyBB comes a close second in my book. Don't get me started about phpbb3 Tongue.
