Due to the thread - What are the best search engines?, I myself had had confusions why do people uses different search engines? What's their purpose? As for searchers??

As for SEO, I think they used different search engines just to compare the search engine results.... but that's only for Google, Yahoo, Bing.

So, are you guys optimizing also to other search engines like Altavista, AOL etc

no, I am only about the three big search engines such bing, yahoo and Google.

For SEO purpose, I use Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com.
For general searching purpose, I use Google. While for dedicated purpose like shopping online, I would like some specialized search engines.

There are several search engine like yahoo, Aol, Bing, Go, Altavista, MSN, etc., but the best search engine is Google, this is the commonly used, the thing that I like most about Google that it sends the maximum amount of visitors for my site.

For my business #1 is Google but if I need to find some local information I prefer to look it up in some local search engines. Google is a world wide search engine but I know that in Russia people prefer Yandex.

out of all the serach engines Google is my first preference and then Bing and then yahoo and then MSn and then Ask and then all the other search engines.
