Dashes are good in domains a because they help separate keywords. Does this make it worth it to have a domain with dashes instead of the same one without?
Yes and No.
If you can obtain both...do it. If the site you want is going to depend on type in traffic you do not want the hyphen. If you are going to rely heavily on the SERPs then a hyphen would be acceptable. I have hyphen names and generally they just don't do as well.
Nowadays, less emphasis is put on this. You lose alot of type in traffic (as Labrocca said) using this method though, so i think the negatives outweight the positives (people can never remember the dash)
No, it doesn't make a significant difference, and you'll be losing lots of traffic because people won't get to your site. Think of it this way, if you have a business with a dash in the domain, and our competitior gets the same domain without the dash you'd be losing alot of traffic (and potential customers) to your competitior.
Definitely not. You'll lose a ton of type in traffic with a dash in the domain. If someone told you their website and it was a two word dot com, would you think of putting a dash in, or would you type it in without a dash?
There are Underscores as well like Web_master_forums.biz .
It really seems that dashes get websites to the top,but our man here,Labrocca doesn't like Dashes.
I don't think i have ever seen a website with dashes in it.
There are lots of domains using the hyphen but not so many that are popular.
Matt cutts Google SEO boy recomends the use of dashes. I think that is better than the words written together.
