Proxy's are notorious for having very low click through rates. To add to this, you can't put adsense on proxified pages and you need a solid host to run a successful proxy (which obviously means you have to pay something). Has anyone got any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Well...it depends on how much you expect to make. Proxy sites are incredible simple to make. I have 2 of them and they each made $5-$20 a month and it takes me zero work. I think that's worth it.
Both my proxies are unique layouts with solid ad placement. Try also to add strong text to the pages with your ads. Relevency is important.
I also know that some people ad seperate ad networks to the proxy pages like adbrite or bidvertiser but I can't say if they allow it as I haven't double-checked that.
The best way to monetize a proxy is to sell links on it. When you have a large amount of traffic, you can offer links, and if the price is good you will have enough to cover the cost of hosting at least.
Yeah link sales can certainly be a nice way to make profit. I advise you limit the amount of links you sell. I normally have it between 5-10.

I agree with that. If you sell more than a dozen or so links, they become less valuable for someone who wants to buy one
I heard google adsense isn't allowed on proxified pages? Is there any ad service that does let you have ads on these pages
I think its best to have adsense on the front page of a proxy and a few paid links too.
Well, the best way to squeeze as much out as possible is to have a network and have some ads on each one. Maybe try alternative ad systems (instead of adsense) to see if this boosts the amount of income you are getting.
Proxies turn in the cash. You just put ads everywhere on em.
