I use multiple hosts for redundancy. Not all my sites are mybb but all my forums currently are. I have worked with multiple forum software in the past but find mybb to be adequate to my needs and best of all it's free.
I use Servage (going downhill fast), Dreamhost (so far reliable enough) and I have my own dedicated server. Plus I have a couple free hosts like 110mb where I use for file storage and backups...sometimes testing too.

For the testing you could just install wamp.

Labrocca doesn't find this host good anymore though.

I use WAMP to test things just as forum upgrades (to check they run smoothly before I upgrade to my live forums) and general website building.
