RE: Best protection program
Well, I only have Norton 360 for now. But, I still prefer McAfee, its faster and I trust it more. But, lately, in this day and age, it all depends on the passing trend of technology. Some become better than others.

RE: Best protection program
Norton is in my opinion the worst. Some even say they help create virus. I dont but its been said many times.
Mcafee used to be good. About 4 years ago. Now its too heavy a program and hard to navigate.
Zone alarms firewall is not bad. Simple control of inbound and outbound. The rest of zone alarm is utter crap.
AVG is good also for a free AV. Not too many false positives.

RE: Best protection program
Like some people have stated, Norton has to be the most useless Anti-Viral Software you can get. I would personally suggest using ESET NOD32. It's what I use on my machines and they've been pretty effective. The program modules are updated very often to make sure you're warding off the latests threats.

Yep I would definitely suggest that one. It's also not too expensive ( I'm not excluding the possibility of a cracked ESET, though xD ).

Norton 360 has a nice scanner but it sucks at removing files. Not to mention it's a resource hog. Not too bad on XP but if that's your Vista security Antivirus, I don't begrudge you Big Grin

Indeed! I actually just use the trial version of the software =P

And you're right again about Norton 360. It IS a resource hog and works TERRIBLY on Vista machines. I would know, I've tried using it on my machine and instantaneously got rid of it after two days.

RE: Best protection program
Glad you agree. Personally I always suggest Nod32 to my OP-s when they ask for help, but they usually just say: it's too expensive or, I'll just go with AVG it's free and tested.

But in the end, I know how to secure my box and I don't care for others Big Grin

RE: Best protection program
I would steer clear of any Symantec products especially Norton. The paid versions of Avast and AVG aren't too bad. You can also run both of their free versions at the same time without problems. It's actually less resources than Norton. lol.

RE: Best protection program
Indeed, Norton is not the best scanner overthere. At the moment I use AVG Free cause I'm to lazy to install Nod32. If you want to pay (or download) I will choose Nod32.
